I’m still mad about this stat.

did you know male influencers make 40% more than female influencers?
and that black content creators are paid 35% less than their white peers?
I saw that stat from the American Influencer Council + Collabstr a few months ago and literally lost my mind. this is why I started the cohort. because conversations like these need to happen — out loud, in real time, and with people who can actually do something about it.
today we hosted the platform, mini series on pay equity for creators of color + female creators.
and I'll tell you what ... the conversation cracked wide open + I could have listened for hours. if you missed it, here’s a recap of what really stuck with me:
📊 by 2045, the U.S will be a majority-minority country.
brands can’t ignore this — it’s not a diversity checkbox, it’s a business model shift.
🐘 brands need to name the elephant in the room..
pay gaps exist. equity gaps exist. if we don’t talk about it, nothing changes.
💬 creators talk.(and they’re done staying quiet about pay.).
“this is what i’m worth” >>> “does this rate work for you?”
💪 “stand on business.”
ask for more money. charge a rush fee. when they say no? they’ll probably come back in 3 months — they always do.
📣 representation isn’t enough.
we don’t just need diverse casting. we need co-creation, long-term partnerships, and brands putting real money behind it.
🔍 creators of color shape culture..
they deserve to be paid like it.
→ show up in the spaces where brands are looking.
→ bring your receipts.
→ and yes — equity partnerships should be on the table.
we don’t fix the creator economy by just talking about it.
we fix it by having the tough conversations, showing the data, and creating actual solutions — together. want the full recording of the panel? you can watch it in-full on our resources page, here.
want to actually be a part of the solve? reply to this email ... because we're scheduling a part two.
xx
